Clatsop
County was created in 1844 and named for the Clatsop Indians.
Fort Clatsop, Lewis and Clark's winter headquarters, is a
national memorial near the mouth of the Columbia River.
Astoria is the oldest city west of the Rockies, established
as a fur trading post in 1811. Seaside was founded in the
early 1870s.
