Grant
County, in north-central Oregon, is an area of ranching, timber,
fishing, hunting, winter sports and tourist attractions. Its
world-renowned John Day Fossil Beds National Monument contains
40 millions years of fossilized history.
While the county seat is Canyon City, the largest town is
John Day, incorporated in 1888. There are many smaller communities
within the county. Those who live and play here pride the
area on its wide open spaces, laid-back pace, natural resources
and privacy.
Other communities are Kimberly, Dayville, Mt. Vernon, Prairie
City, Granite, Long Creek, Fox, Monument, and Seneca.
Grant County Snowballers are located in John Day, Oregon,
where there is some of the finest snowmobiling in the state.
Our club is responsible for grooming more trails than any
other club in Oregon and we maintain over 861 miles of trails
in the mountains of Eastern Oregon. We ride around the Strawberry
Mountain Wilderness through the Logan Valley area. Besides
the many miles of groomed trails, we have endless acres of
play areas and cross-country rides from trail to trail.
