Take
a trip to the northwest tip of San Juan Island, Washington,
and visit the lovely harbor - Roche Harbor. Rich in history
and ambiance with its world-class marina, Roche Harbor is
a favorite "get away" destination for many visitors
year-round. Currently underway is a new hotel and spa - due
for completion in January of 2007.
Whether sailing in by boat and docking in the famous marina,
flying in on a seaplane or onto our airstrip, or traveling
by Washington State ferry, you are sure to marvel at the beautiful
scenery through the islands on your journey. Surrounded by
outer islands, it is in these protected waters that an abundance
of many species of wildlife can be seen, even pods of resident
Orca whales! Enjoy a whale watching or kayak journey with
San Juan Safaris while you're here. You can also hop on one
of "Susie's Mopeds" to tour the island.
The village of Roche Harbor and its famous Hotel de Haro,
built in 1886, is listed on the National Register of Historical
Sites. In the late 1800's, the Roche Harbor Lime & Cement
Company was known as "The Largest Limeworks West of the
Mississippi."
